If you are one of those kind souls who tries to provide shelter for the stray cats in your neighborhood in winter, here is a tip worth knowing.
Towels, blankets, cat beds, or any type of cloth materials can get wet or absorb moisture from the air and freeze. This makes these materials unsuitable for insulation in a cat shelter.
An ideal bedding for cat shelters in winter is straw. Staw has excellent insulating properties and will not retain moisture. It’s nice and spongey and the cat can move it around to its liking.
Make sure you don’t use hay. There’s an old saying- “Hay is for horses, straw is for strays“.
